The Temptations of Satan by Henry Miranda

2 Corinthians 10:3 - 5 (NKJV) for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Does Satan exist? Yes.  He has been around since he was thrown out of heaven; he just stays out of sight, but not out of your mind, he is just waiting to see, if you let him come into your mind.  I should say into your thoughts.

While Satan cannot read our minds, he can influence our thoughts. Thus, the Bible instructs us to “put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Eph. 6:11).

Satan wants you to believe that you’re the only one who has this problem and that you can’t gain victory over it. However, these beliefs are false. We are overtaken by temptations that are common to all Christians (see I Corinthians 10:13), but in Christ we have victory over the destructive power of impure thoughts that come into your mind. (See Romans 6:22 and 8:2.) By God’s grace, as you follow His plan, you can conquer impure thoughts that come into your mind.

When an impure thought comes into your mind, you are induced to take pleasure in that.  This is what Satan uses to tempt you. He likes to put an impure thought in your mind.  Sometimes we like the thought and crave to retain it in our mind.  Sometimes you induced yourself into thinking more similar thoughts and seek to find pleasure in them.  If you do so, you are committing sin.

We need to keep in mind that any temptation is just an urged towards sin.  When we entertain the impure thought we may be in danger of yielding to it, and it is when we act on them that it becomes a sin.  We must resist immoral thought, through Christ who gives us the strength to do away with them.

Often what happens is, even when we try to erase an impure thought from our mind, it stays.  Therefore we think we have sinned.  It is only when we decide wholeheartedly to retain that impure thought in our mind and to think more and more of it that we really commit sin.  Therefore, even if impure thoughts linger in our minds for a long time, if we don't yield to them, we are not committing sin.

If we give room for impure thought, and we are slightly sluggish in dismissing them, and we are not making adequate efforts to remove the impure thoughts.  Then we may be in danger of committing sin.  We must remember that when we harbor impure thoughts, it gives Satan a chance to try to make us sin.

Sometimes the impure thought is more difficult to control than actually committing the sin itself.  We must trust in Jesus Christ and the power of his might to help us overcome any impure thought.

When  impure thoughts come into our minds that cause us to doubt Gods love and provision for every need or the needs of others, thoughts involving acts of sin such as worry, fear, envy, bitterness, discouragement, lust, pride, lying, and anger we need to talk to a Christian brother or sister for help.

They can pray for you and gave you support to overcome the impure thoughts lingering in your mind.  You don't want an impure thought to stay in your mind.  We must learn to turn our impure thoughts over to Jesus.

Some of us may have been deceived into thinking that sin lies in having an ungodly thought flash through our minds.  We may feel defeated and helpless because we do not understand that the thought in itself is not a sin.  It is what we do with our thoughts that it's important for if it remains in our mind it may lead to sin.

We are not responsible for the thoughts coming into our mind, unless we are exposing ourselves to situations that will put that thought in our mind.  But we are responsible for controlling the thought.  Doubt, anxiety, anger, and nervousness can show up disturbing our physical and spiritual rest, but we are not helpless in the face of defeating thoughts. We are born again Christians we walk by faith and not by sight.

Keep these truths in mind:
You will never face a temptation that is impossible to overcome. (I Corinthians 10:13.)God is eager to give you all the grace you need to reject the temptation. (Hebrews 4:16.)God promises to give you wisdom, but you must ask for it in faith. (James 1:6–8.)

Raised As A Jewish Girl Among Many Christians

Loved reading this book and it comes highly recommended. You will love it too.

Matzah Balls to Communion Wafers is an excellent and intriguing memoir peering into the depths of a woman’s soul torn by worldly and religious culture, family heritage, and anti-semitism, thus revealing a steady quest for knowledge and truth in the light of the love of God. ~ CBM Christian Book Reviews / A CBM Christian Book Review - 10.0 out 10.0 stars.

Gail Baker pens a delightful and life-enriching memoir. Filled with memorable familial insights and battles, Gail Baker relates her common Jewish family, bridging the gap between tradition and faith as a Jewish woman.

Gail Baker grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. Blending a tenacious personality, humor, and candor, her intelligence and analytical abilities shine throughout the book. A timeline of poignant moments from childhood to adulthood defined and shaped her family, her life and some of her outcomes. Lovingly speaking of her family roots and history, her story unfolds as a young girl coming of age. Insights and highlights shed light into the beliefs of her Jewish family, the era they lived in and Jewish resolve and unity from her family’s effortless support of humanitarian efforts, to include the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1967.

I found myself not able to put down her memoir. As I read of the turbulent 60’s during her days in college, she reflects back on her upbringing that relates dysfunction on many levels. Despite, Judaism (which played a nominal role in Gail’s young life), she describes a young girl cloistered by the knowledge of anti-semitism and shallow Christianity. This led to a voracious pursuit of philosophical and theological dictum that bring about understanding of the ideals she has come to know. She shares these perspectives, quotes, scripture verses and insight that gives her book texture and depth. She relates a deep spiritual journey that led to a splendid concession of simply coming to the only One that could bring peace to her soul, Jesus Christ.

With such harmony, she summarizes misconceptions, anxiety, fear, faith and the issues with raising a child that came into difficulty. She also fervently describes her loving pursuit in helping her son, in which her mother’s heart is revealed in such a tender way.

What readers will find is that woven within the tapestry of her book springs forth a deep spiritual conviction to find Truth. This book will move readers deep within their soul, build faith and inspire admiration for God’s chosen people. Her sculpted memoir relates grace and intensity simultaneously. Her story culminates in a wonderful and beautiful love story from a “not-so Kosher Jewish girl that fell in love with Jesus.”

This is an incredibly touching memoir that all will not want to miss!

Matzah Balls to Communion Wafers comes as a highly recommended read for all Christians and Jewish individuals, especially to those that perhaps may be grappling with faith, tradition and religion. Purely enjoyable!  Thank you Gail for sharing your life with us!

The otherly Is Waiting,…will you go?

Christian Author Mark Norris
Sword of the Spirit

The westland village of Noy couldn’t afford the apathy of its unenlightened, middleland neighbors. Its enclosing fortress walls stood as a monument to the frightening visitations it experienced, day and night.

When the town’s most celebrated
otherly adventurer receives a prophetic lamp, he teams with one final group on a faith empowering mission into the dread regions of evil that could usher in an eternal age where mortals are like angels and God reigns supreme.

Yahwin (God), Krystos (Jesus), Sahron (Satan), a host of
otherly foes, warrior angels, and warrior prophets endued with extraordinary power all inhabit this peculiar realm in which author Mark Norris tells an eschatological tale that wars for the Millennium’s victor’s rights.

What would you do if an angel materialized in your bedroom tonight, handed you a prophetic lampstand that projected the events of Satan’s rebellion, and invited you to brave the powers of hell?  .................
The otherly is waiting,…will you go?

Sword of the Spirit by Mark Norris  - To most in the Realm of Drugolin, otherly spirit lore lingered as mysterious legends best suited for late night hearths. On rare occasions one might hear of strange visitations. Some of huge, radiant beings bearing aid and guidance. Others of dark, evil creatures summoning dread and death. All were a part of Drugolish legend, but few took them seriously.

What others say about Sword of the Spirit:

In Sword of the Spirit, Mark takes us on an intense and imaginative quest that parallels our own lives. A great piece of work that captivates the reader while increasing our ability to remain free from the schemes of darkness. I love  it. It is lush in imagery.“ ~ Gary Crawford

This book really made me think. It delves into spiritual warfare, and considers some of the ways God could anoint believers who resist the enemy in the last days. This book challenged me to believe God for some things I had never considered before. But, it is also a good story. It has plenty of action and I found it hard to put down. I recommend it!” ~ Tom Miller

Discipleship

As a former pastor, Richard Christenson has had the opportunity to address numerous congregations and men’s ministry groups throughout the northwestern United States, and his observations from these experiences are alarming. He found that comprehensive discipleship training that addresses the spiritual formation and mission involvement requirement of Christ’s followers has been replaced by “felt needs” driven programming and religious education classes. The result is, local churches are becoming increasingly ingrown and are comprised of consumers, spectators, and Jesus fans rather than cross-carrying followers of Jesus Christ.

Richard Christenson believes this problem is the result of our incomplete presentation of the Gospel and our failure to provide comprehensive maturity, ministry, and mission training for church members. Christ’s discipleship deal comes with many temporal and eternal benefits, but there are also costs involved that need to be counted before making a commitment to become a follower of Christ.

In his new book, Christ’s Discipleship Deal, Christenson offers assistance for local church leaders in identifying and correcting concerns related to their presentation of the Gospel, spiritual formation of their members, and proactive participation in Christ’s redemptive mission. Get your copy of Christ’s Discipleship Deal at Amazon, in Kindle or in Audio Book.

Faith, Fear and Victory

Faith and fear are developed exactly alike. Both are developed from hearing something. Faith comes from hearing God’s Word, or the Holy Spirit speaking to you through His Word.

Fear comes from hearing Satan’s voice. Faith and fear are both released by words and actions. The one kind will always stop the other from working.

You can NOT have great faith and great fear at the same time. Faith leaves when fear enters. Fear will also leave when faith enters.

Satan can’t force you to do anything. His main tool is deception. He gives you a suggestion - you make it a choice. Satan is always helpless without deception, which produces fear. Remember fear is a temptation from the enemy, and the problem comes when we act on it.

Overcome fear by filling your spirit with the promises of God, depending upon them to raise your level of faith. James 4:7 tells you resist the devil, and he will flee from you. God wants to help you, if you will let Him.

Psalm 56:3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.

As a Northwest country girl at heart, Debi grew up Washington State in a strong Christian family that gave her a solid foundation with Jesus. Debi retells the journey of heartbreak and loss from that fateful day in October that changed everything. Through dreams and visions, encounters with the Father’s love and the joy of the Lord, her family was brought back to life after that tragic day in October.

Debi's message is about finding that abundant life that Jesus speaks about in John 10:10 and leading others into that same joy to get them unstuck from wherever they may find themselves.

Real and raw emotions flourish from the beginning, and chapter two, coupled with the following chapters highlight “golden nuggets”, a trip to the Toronto Blessing in Canada and much more that changed her families’ lives. Along this path the author gives awe-inspiring accounts of the supernatural, turning hearts to Jesus. Jesus, angels, coupled with dreams and encounters kept her alive and sane, and the Holy Spirit transformed both her and her husband, catapulting them into ministry.

Redeemed to Live! is one of those amazing true-life testimonies of tragic loss that brings the reality of Heaven and life beyond this Earth into better perspective.
